Experts cannot exactly pinpoint the cause of asthma and why it affects some people. Asthma is an incurable but controllable disease hence if you have the asthma you must learn to live with it. Asthma attacks are caused by stimulants such as:

  • Inhaling smoke from tobacco and other source.
  • Exposure to respiratory irritants like cleaning solution, perfumes, air freshener and fume of any kind
  • Allergy carriers such as dust, molds and animal waste.
  • Changes in weather
  • Upper respiratory infection like flu, sinusitis, bronchitis and cold
  • Air pollution
  • Stress
  • Too much physical activities
  • GERD
  • Additives added to some foods and drinks
  • Menstrual cycle to women
  • Hereditary

To control asthma attacks, it is important that a patient suffering from this disease should make necessary move to prevent the disease from invading his body. Here are few suggestions on what to do:

  • Avoid exposing yourself to stimulant
  •  Quit smoking
  • Do not take aspirin and nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen. These drugs could worsen the asthma attacks.
  •  Do not take anti-cough medicines. These drugs cannot help relieve your asthma but instead it could bring probable side effects to your body.
  • Never take self medications like using inhalers without doctor’s prescriptions. This may cause side effects that could worsen your disease.
  • Always follow your doctor’s advice
